Qatar and Turkey on Tuesday signed a slew of agreements to strengthen bilateral relations as His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan chaired the 7th Session of the Supreme Strategic Committee between Qatar and Turkey at the Amiri Diwan on Tuesday.
At the beginning of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed the Turkish president and the accompanying delegation. HH the Amir noted the importance of the Supreme Strategic Committee sessions and the meetings of the two countries’ officials in consolidating the Qatari-Turkish strategic partnership.
The Turkish president expressed his thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality he and the accompanying delegation received.
The Turkish president invited HH the Amir for the 8th session of the Supreme Strategic Committee between the two countries which will be held in Turkey next year.
During the meeting, HH the Amir and the Turkish president discussed ways to consolidate and develop the strategic cooperation relations between the two sides and the prospects for enhancing them at various levels, especially in the economy, investment, industry, defense, and security, endowments, media, culture, and sports fields.
HH the Amir and the Turkish president had held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on the latest regional and international situations of common interest.
The session was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani and a number of ministers.
HH the Amir and the Turkish president witnessed the signing of the closing statement of the committee’s meeting and a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the governments of the two countries.
HH the Amir and the Turkish president also witnessed the signing of a protocol on the implementation of the letter of intent for cooperation in the areas of implementing major events between the governments of the two countries, a letter of intent on emergency and disaster management between the General Directorate of Civil Defense of the Ministry of Interior and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of ceremonies between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a letter of intent on the content partnership program between the Doha Forum and Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
HH the Amir and the Turkish president also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Development Bank and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization in Turkey, the first executive programme of the memorandum of understanding in the fields of youth and sports for the years (2022-24), the first executive programme of the memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of health and medical sciences between the governments of the two countries, a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and the Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs for cooperation in the field of endowments and Islamic affairs, the executive programme of the memorandum of understanding in the field of standardization between Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology and the Turkish Standards Institution, the second executive programme of the memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the cultural field between the Ministry of Culture and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the two years (2022-2023), and an agreement of understanding between the Qatari Businessmen Association and the Turkish Investment Office.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of the joint statement issued by the 7th meeting of the Qatar -Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee.
